In Bancos (Banks), each pending bank statement line comes with the suggestions that could be the same money; you pick one and the line is reconciled. When the suggestions column says Sin coincidencias (no matches), nothing is broken: Containn found nothing that meets its rules. It helps to know what they are.
What Containn looks for
- An outflow (negative amount) is compared against supplier payments recorded in Cuentas por pagar (Accounts payable).
- An inflow (positive amount) is compared against OTA (online travel agency) deposits recorded in OTA reconciliation, opened from Finances → Reports.
- The amount has to be identical to the cent and the dates five days apart or less.
The reference you enter on a supplier payment shows up in the suggestion so you can recognize it, but it isn't used for matching. And the suggestion doesn't check which bank account the payment came from: confirm it belongs to this account.
Likely causes, from most to least common
1. That kind of line gets no suggestions
Today there are no suggestions for guest card or transfer payments, cash deposits, bank fees or interest. What to do: fees, interest and cash deposits are recorded with Registrar como gasto (Record as expense), which asks for the offsetting account and creates the póliza (journal entry); despite its name, it works for inflows and outflows. Don't use it for a guest payment: that money already reached the books through the daily entry and you'd record it twice. Leave it pending; a pending line doesn't change the account's reconciliation, which compares balances.
2. The other side was never recorded
If the supplier payment wasn't recorded with Pagar (Pay) in Accounts payable, or the OTA deposit wasn't entered with Record deposit, there's nothing to match against. How to fix: record it; the suggestion appears without re-importing.
3. The amount isn't identical
One cent is enough. It happens when the bank nets a fee out of a deposit, when one transfer covered two payments recorded separately, or when you split an OTA deposit across two months. How to fix: in OTA reconciliation, enter what actually reached the bank; if one transfer settled several invoices from the same supplier, record it as a single payment using Facturas que se saldan (invoices being paid). Today a bank line reconciles against a single record: if the deposit really covers two months, leave it pending.
4. The dates are more than five days apart
It happens when you record the payment with the invoice date and the bank posted it later. How to fix: the Fecha del pago (payment date) and the Deposit date are the ones on the bank statement.
5. The amount was imported wrong
The amount is the last column of each pasted line, and commas also split columns: 18,320.55 is read as 320.55, and if your statement has a running balance column at the end, the balance is read instead. How to confirm: compare the Monto (amount) column in Bancos with your statement. How to fix: paste three columns (date, description and a signed amount, negative for outflows) with no thousands separator, and remove the misread line with Ignorar (Ignore).
Ignorar removes the line from the list and from the Según el banco (per bank) balance, and today there's no on-screen list of ignored lines to bring it back. Use it only for what shouldn't count, such as a line imported with the wrong amount. A wrong match with no journal entry is undone with Deshacer (Undo), under Ya conciliados (Already reconciled).
