What it is
Containn is your hotel's accounting inside R2 OS, the same platform your hotel runs on every day. It starts from the day close: when the business date is signed, Containn turns that day's sheet into a double-entry póliza (the Mexican term for a journal entry) that balances to the cent, on a chart of accounts where every account carries its SAT grouping code. The SAT is Mexico's tax authority, and its grouping code lets it read every taxpayer's trial balance the same way.
The name joins «conta» (short for accounting in Spanish) and «inn»: accounting built for people who rent rooms. That is why its base chart of accounts already includes what a generic one lacks: room revenue, lodging tax payable, tips payable to staff and advance deposits on reservations.
What it includes
Everything lives under the Containn menu, split into sections. The Containn screens are in Spanish; this is what each one does:
| Section | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Pólizas | The póliza created by each signed day, plus the ones your accountant enters by hand. |
| Balanza de comprobación | Trial balance: opening balance, debits, credits and closing balance per account; one click opens its ledger detail. |
| Estados financieros | Income statement for the month or year to date, and balance sheet with its balance check. |
| Cierre de mes | Month-end and year-end close: what is still missing and who closed each period. |
| Nómina | Payroll calculated by your payroll provider, recorded with its póliza and its payment. |
| Activos fijos | Fixed assets: additions and straight-line monthly depreciation. |
| Cuentas por pagar | Accounts payable: vendor invoices, due dates and payments, each with its póliza. |
| Bancos | Bank statement against the books, with suggested matches. |
| Entrega al SAT | The XML files for electronic accounting under Anexo 24, the SAT rules that define them. |
| Configuración | Settings: chart of accounts, concepts and their accounts, and taxes and their accounts. |
How it works
- Your accountant sets up the chart of accounts and decides which account each hotel concept posts to. This is done once.
- Operations do not change: the front desk posts charges and takes payments, the night audit posts each night of room revenue, and someone with permission signs the day.
- Signing creates the day's póliza. Everything else (vendors, payroll, depreciation, banks and adjustments) is recorded in its own section and lands in the same general ledger, which feeds the trial balance, the statements and the SAT files.
Three rules that do not bend
- A póliza that does not balance is not saved. There is no way to force it.
- A signed day is never recalculated. A correction shows up on the day it was made. Read why.
- A póliza is never edited or deleted, and a closed month takes no new pólizas until someone with permission reopens it, with a reason.
It does not file tax returns or calculate payroll. It does not seal or submit files to the SAT: your accountant signs them with the hotel's e.firma, its advanced electronic signature. It does not yet read vendor XML invoices or connect directly to the bank. Each legal entity keeps its own books, and today they are not consolidated into a single statement. The direct-method cash flow statement is already calculated from the general ledger but does not have a screen yet. Details in What Containn does not do.
