A day shows no activity

Why a day has no entry or shows up empty in your books, how to tell whether it was signed, and what to do in each case.

Documentation · Troubleshooting

In Containn, revenue reaches the books through the daily póliza (journal entry), and that entry is born when the operating day is signed off. A day without an entry is, for the books, a day with no activity, even if the hotel was full. The cause is almost always upstream of accounting.

The symptom

Pólizas (Journal entries) has no entry for a date; the trial balance or the income statement says No hay movimientos contables en ese periodo (no accounting activity in this period); or Cierre de mes (Month-end close) reports signed days without an entry and won't let you close.

Quick check

Pólizas shows only the property you're in and the month in the Mes field, typed as year-month (2026-09). Confirm both before going further.

Likely causes, from most to least common

1. The day hasn't been signed

An open day has no entry: accounting never runs ahead of operations. How to confirm: the date isn't under Signed days in Finances → Day close. How to fix: sign it. Days are signed in order; if an earlier one is still open, the screen says Antes hay que cerrar el… (first close the…). If it says the property doesn't have the night audit turned on, there's no day to sign: turn it on in Settings → Accounting concepts.

2. It was signed, but setup was incomplete

If an account was missing when the day was signed, the entry isn't generated and the day close goes through anyway: accounting never stops operations. How to confirm: the warning Falta para que el día firmado se convierta en póliza (what's missing for the signed day to become an entry) appears at the top of Containn. That warning doesn't cover folio charges without their own transaction code: if it isn't there and the day still has no entry, check Codes without an account. How to fix: complete what's missing (Why an entry isn't generated). The entry won't appear by itself afterwards: reopen the day and sign it again (this needs the special permission and is logged; the sheet freezes with whatever is there at that moment), or write to us to post the pending days from the sheet exactly as it was signed.

3. The day is earlier than the first signed day

A property's first close is an anchor: everything before it stays as unsigned history and will never have a daily entry. How to confirm: the date is earlier than the oldest signed day. How to fix: if that period belongs in the books, enter it as a manual entry, for example inside the opening entry (Manual entries).

4. The month was already closed when the day was signed

No entry goes into a closed month, the daily one included. It happens when a month is closed before its last days are signed. How to confirm: Cierre de mes shows the month as Cerrado (closed) and the date is among the signed days. How to fix: reopen the month (Reopenings) and post the day as in cause 2.

5. The activity sits on another day

With a 7 a.m. cutoff, a payment taken at 2 a.m. belongs to the previous day; and a charge sent to another open day with the Día de operación (operating day) selector counts on that day. How to confirm: look for it in the Movement journal for the neighboring date (The operating day and its cutoff).

6. The day truly had no activity

With no guests in house, no charges and no payments, there's nothing to post and no entry is generated. How to confirm: the Movement journal for that date is empty.

A limit today

A signed day with no activity at all shows up in Cierre de mes as a signed day without an entry, and today that blocks the month-end close. If it happens to you, write to us with the date.
