What it is
Reopening undoes a close. Containn has three closes and each one is reopened separately: the business day the night auditor signs, the accounting month and the fiscal year. Reopening one does not reopen the others, and all three require a written reason: without it, the reopen button stays disabled.

Who can do it
Reopening permissions are special: nobody has them until they are granted, one by one, in Settings → My team. The hotel's owner and administrator can always reopen.
Step by step: reopening a month
- Open Containn → Cierre de mes (month close) and choose the year and month.
- Click Reabrir el mes.
- Type the Motivo de la reapertura (reason for reopening) and click Reabrir (reopen).
- Make your correction and close the month again.
The order
- Months are reopened from newest to oldest. To fix June with July and August closed, you reopen August first, then July, and June last.
- They are closed again the other way round: June, July, then August, because each month is closed only after the one before it.
- Fiscal years work the same way: a year cannot be reopened if the following one is already closed.
What it does and does not do
- Reopening the fiscal year cancels its closing póliza (journal entry): the income statement accounts get their balances back and equity no longer includes that result. It does not reopen any month.
- Reopening a month does not reopen the fiscal year. If the year is already closed and you will post something in that month, reopen the fiscal year too and close it again when you are done (year-end close).
- Reopening a day does not change its póliza: if it had one, it stays the same after the day is signed again; if it had none, it is created when the day is signed again, as long as its month is open and nothing is missing from the setup.
What can go wrong
- You look for the reopening on screen and it is not there. Today Cierre de mes shows who closed the month and when, not its reopenings: the record is kept, but it is not displayed there yet. While the month is reopened, it no longer shows who had closed it.
- Your user lacks the permission. The screen tells you when you try to reopen; ask the hotel's owner for it in Settings → My team.
