What happens
The daily póliza (journal entry) is created when the day is signed. If Containn is missing something, it does not guess an account or write half a póliza: the day is still signed (accounting never holds up the day close) and the póliza is not created. Containn stops at the first reason it finds, so fixing one may reveal the next.
The eleven reasons
| Reason | What it means | How to fix it |
|---|---|---|
| 1. The day is not signed | A day that has not been signed, or a property without the night audit turned on, has no póliza. | Sign the day in Finances → Day close. The night audit is turned on in Settings → Accounting concepts. |
| 2. The day has no activity | The signed sheet has no line with an amount. | There is nothing to post (a day with no activity). |
| 3. The day already has its póliza | There is one per signed day; if you reopen it and sign it again, the existing one stays as it was. | Record the difference with a manual póliza. |
| 4. The month is closed | No póliza gets into a closed month. | Reopen the month with the special permission (reopening). |
| 5. There is no chart of accounts | The hotel has no accounts yet. | Load the base chart in Catálogo de cuentas (chart of accounts). |
| 6. The guest ledger account is missing | No account has the guest-ledger role (clientes huéspedes), which takes the day's consumption and payments. | Give that role to an account. In the base chart it is 105-01. |
| 7. Lines without an account | A concept on the sheet has no account, or the line has no concept (such as a folio charge with no concept of its own). | Assign it an account in Conceptos y sus cuentas. If the line has no concept, see concepts without an account. |
| 8. The tax account is missing | A line carries tax that cannot go to an account of its own and there is no general output-tax account. | Give the output-tax role (impuestos trasladados) to an account. In the base chart it is 208-01. |
| 9. The service charge account is missing | A line carries a service charge and no account has that role (cargo por servicio). | Give that role to an account. In the base chart it is 401-05. |
| 10. The advance deposits account is missing | The day has a deposit for a future stay or its transfer to the folio, and no account has the advance-deposits role (anticipos de clientes). | Give that role to an account. In the base chart it is 206-01 (the deposit ledger). |
| 11. The póliza does not balance | Debits and credits do not match to the cent. Containn will not save an unbalanced póliza or force it to balance. | See the póliza does not balance. |
With the base chart, the roles behind reasons 6, 8, 9 and 10 come already assigned; they go missing if the chart was built by hand or someone changed a role. You can see them in the chart's Papel en la póliza (role in the póliza) column (account roles).
Where you see it
Today the screen does not show the reason for each day. It warns you in two ways:
- In Pólizas, a yellow notice says what the setup is missing: loading the chart, giving a role to an account, or how many concepts still need mapping.
- In Cierre de mes (month close), the month lists the signed days without a póliza.
The notice checks the general setup, not each day, and it does not cover the advance-deposits account or the folio-charge accounts: a day can end up without a póliza even when the notice does not appear.
After you fix it
Fixing the cause does not create the póliza for a day already signed. For the most recent signed day, someone with the special Reabrir un día cerrado permission (reopen a closed day) reopens it in Finances → Day close, with a reason, and signs it again: that is when the póliza is created. For older days, contact support.
