Your signature is where the hotel's accounting begins. When you close the day, its sheet is frozen and the póliza (Mexican journal entry) the accountant works with is created from it. You do not need to open Containn: your work is in Finances → Day close.
Step by step
If the property closes manually, the screen numbers three steps. In automatic mode the business date rolls at the cutoff time and the audit posts every hour; you review and sign.
- Post the night. First open Rate check: every room with the rate it is about to be charged against the plan rate, with differences and zero rates flagged. Then click Run the day's close: it posts room revenue and fixed charges, flags no-shows if automatic no-show is on, and rolls the business date.
- Review the day's reports. Open the Trial balance, the Movement journal and Guest balances, and pick the date you are closing in their selector. Resolve any nights left uncharged.
- Sign the day. Click Close day with the date the screen proposes. The confirmation shows the debits and credits that were frozen.
The two reports you will use most
- Night Audit Totals answers whether the day balances: opening balance plus debits minus credits equals closing balance. From Signed days → See reports you open it exactly as signed.
- Movement journal lists every movement with time, room, folio, concept, net amount, tax, service charge, total, user and revenue center, and exports to Excel or PDF. If a person did not make the movement, it says what generated it; if the name came from the shift close, it says so underneath.
Signature rules
- Only a day that has ended can be closed, and in order: you cannot skip one.
- The property's first close is the anchor: earlier dates stay as unsigned history.
- A signed day is never recalculated. Anything corrected later shows up on the open day when it was corrected.
- Reopening the last signed day requires the special permission Reabrir un día cerrado (reopen a closed day) and a reason. It is logged, and the signed days table shows it.

What can go wrong
- “This property does not have the night audit turned on.” There is no day to sign. Someone who can configure the hotel turns it on in Settings → Accounting concepts.
- The date you try to close has not ended. Only a finished day can be signed.
- An earlier day is still open. The message names the date to close first: days are signed in order.
Your permissions are in the Finances section of Settings → My Team: Correr la auditoría nocturna (run the night audit) and Cerrar el día de operación (close the business date).
